By downloading, installing or using the Stoneye app, or by using stoneye.app, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app or this site.
What Stoneye does
- Stoneye identifies minerals two ways: by uploading a photo for analysis by an AI model (see our Privacy Policy for exactly what that involves), and through a dichotomous key of physical tests you perform yourself, which runs entirely on your device.
- Results from either method are candidates, not certainties. Stoneye tells you when it isn't sure rather than forcing a confident-sounding guess. Nothing in the app substitutes for professional geological or gemological identification — don't rely on it for decisions with financial, safety, or legal consequences.
Your license to use the app
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Stoneye on devices you own or control, for your own use, subject to these Terms and Apple's standard usage rules. You may not reverse-engineer, redistribute, sublicense or resell the app or the mineral data bundled with it.
Purchases and subscriptions
- Stoneye offers two auto-renewing subscriptions, Stoneye Pro and Stoneye Studio, each billed monthly or yearly. A subscription raises the number of photo identifications you can run each month — 10 on the free tier, 100 on Pro, 300 on Studio. These are ceilings, not estimates, and they apply to subscribers too. Every other feature is free. There is no one-time purchase, no weekly plan and no free trial that converts into a paid subscription.
- All purchases are billed and processed by Apple through your App Store account; payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
- A subscription renews automatically for the same term — a month or a year — unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the current period ends; the renewal is charged within those final 24 hours. Manage or cancel it in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, or in the App Store app.
- If you reinstall the app or move to a new device, Restore purchases on the plans screen brings your subscription back on the same Apple ID.
- We use RevenueCat solely to check which products you're entitled to. We never receive or store your card details — Apple handles all payment information.
- Refunds are granted or denied by Apple, under Apple's own refund policies; we don't process refunds directly and can't override Apple's decision.
Location
If you choose to save a find, Stoneye asks permission to attach your device's location to that entry. This is optional, stored only on your device, and never sent to us.
No tracking
The app contains no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking SDKs. We don't monitor how you use it.
Availability
We try to keep the identification endpoint available, but it depends on a third-party model provider (Google) and Apple's platform, and we don't guarantee uninterrupted access. The offline features — the mineral library and the dichotomous key — don't depend on network access at all.
Termination
You can stop using Stoneye at any time by deleting the app. We may suspend or terminate access to the identification endpoint for use that abuses or overloads it.
Disclaimer of warranties
Stoneye is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including as to the accuracy of any mineral identification, fitness for a particular purpose, or merchantability.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app or reliance on its results.
Apple App Store
If you downloaded Stoneye from the App Store, the following applies in addition to the rest of these Terms:
- This agreement is between you and us, not Apple, and Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support for the app.
- The app is licensed to you, not sold. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
- In the event of any failure of the app to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any, for the app; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the app, including product liability claims, legal or regulatory compliance claims, and consumer protection claims.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement and discharge of any claim that the app infringes a third party's intellectual property rights.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as the app changes. We'll update the date at the top of this page when we do; continued use after a change means you accept the update.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Türkiye, where the developer is based.
That choice takes nothing away from you. Where the law of the country you live in gives consumers rights that a contract can't sign away — as Turkish Law No. 6502 on Consumer Protection does, and as consumer law in the EU and the UK does — those rights still apply in full, and nothing in these Terms narrows them. A term that tried to would be void anyway, whether or not you tapped "accept".
- If you are a consumer in Türkiye: disputes below the value limit set each year by the Ministry of Trade go to a Tüketici Hakem Heyeti (consumer arbitration committee), which costs nothing to apply to; above that limit they go to a Tüketici Mahkemesi (consumer court). We deliberately don't print the limit here, because it is revised every year and a figure on this page would be wrong within months — the committee or the Ministry will tell you the current one. You may apply where you live, where the transaction took place, or where we are.
- If you are a consumer anywhere else: you can bring a claim in the courts of your own country wherever your own law allows it, and that country's mandatory consumer protections apply to you regardless of this clause.
Purchases made through the App Store are also subject to Apple's own terms for the store, and refunds for App Store purchases are granted or refused by Apple under those terms — not by us.
